Hello. I'm Damien, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. Originally from the south of France, I have lived in Brighton since 2018 and have been involved with Controlling Chemsex since February 2023. I qualified as a Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist in June 2024 and began my journey as a trainee therapist at the Priory Hospital North London in September 2021.
I have a lived experience and a psychological understanding of some of the pitfalls of the gay community, which is why I am so eager to support queer men in recovery. Empowering my community and its individuals by fostering a sense of belonging, acceptance, and pleasure is what I am passionate about, so let's step outside of our comfort zones and start addressing the shame, stigmatisation, isolation and relational issues that are getting in the way of a more fulfilling existence.
I am also a member of the ESL (English as a Second Language) community. I can relate to people minoritised on different levels and feel comfortable working on intersectionalities and within spectrums like gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, race, etc.
Some of my favourite books are White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo, Straight Jacket by Matthew Todd, The Velvet Rage by Alan Downs, The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk, and Unmasking Autism by Dr Devon Price.
